The article says he had a heart attack which caused him to crash, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital of a cardiac event - not an injury sustained in the crash.
A guy that also worked for my employer, long rumored to have a ‘Hoover’ nose, had a sudden fatal HA in a motor race.

There is no evidence at this time that drugs were involved. But the guy was only 23 years old.
