For Captain Compassion. Quintessence Saxophone Quintet playing the Fudge Fugue in G minor. Roughly chronological for the Art History buffs. Gustav Klimt was an Austrian painter who did ceilings and walls of museums and theaters, as well as amazing portraits. There's an eroticism to his work that might not appeal to all, but his "golden phase" is breathtaking.
PING
It’s great to see so much of the early work, before he got to the iconic stuff. Thank you for posting!
I love doing chronological because you can actually watch styles develop. Though in his case, he was all over the map from early on. There’s even early landscapes before the later ones.
Since someone just down-arrowed the video from here, I’m hoping that those who like it will up-arrow it.
What could there possibly be to down-arrow?
You beat me to it.
Then the two of you understand something I don’t. I don’t get that picture and dialog.
I actually prefer his landscapes, despite being in the graphics field and appreciating his Art Nouveau mastery of stylized imagery and organic use of typography.
I’ve just realized that Michelle Obama’s official portrait is a Klimt knockoff too, by the way.
It was a sendup of gallery openings that are perceived to be snooty, with the trademark Rodney Dangerfield “everyman” crudity. Substitute “Klimt” with private parts, then you’ll get it. It actually is funny if you watch the scene and listen to the dialogue. Falls a little flat as captions.
I was surprised how much I liked his landscapes, but I loved his portraits, too. I get bored easily, I fear, so I really liked that his style was all over the place. Interesting about MO because I also saw a photo of BO with two Klimts in the Oval Office. And I had to be EXTREMELY careful with this video because there were “in the style of” images EVERYWHERE! He’s in the Wax Museum!
And a lot of people, like me, didn’t even know who Klimt was, until “Back to School” came out, LOL!
Thank you. You have to know that I learned the facts of life from mother in Latin.
That is probably something you should feel good about.
Most excellently done. Thank you. As an aside Bach’s Little Fugue in G Minor may well be the most mathematically perfect piece of music ever written and my favorite short Bach work.
Then I’m really glad I used it. I do listen to you, Captain.
wonderful, thank you!!!
“Well, I’m partial to the fugue.”
