Then they’d have to rename her Dakota, since that’s been used as a girl name.
I am cool with everything as long as I do not have to rewatch the debacle named Crystal Skull...
Grumpy Old Women with Sophia Loren and Anne Margaret. Not the same kind of thrill...
No, he shouldn’t....
I know the past decade or so has been all about putting out stuff with women being the hero...
But you don’t need to take an existing character and make it a woman..
This is an old promotion trick.
Whenever someone in Hollywood has a new project they inevitably issue some 'shocking' or controversial comment to the media.
It's a PR game.
They do it to get free media coverage and draw attention to their new film or album.
Once you're aware of it you can't not see it.
Amy Schumer had a film coming out when Trump won and she started making anti-Trump comments.
Springstein came out with his bio and did the same thing.
Dixie Chicks had a new album/tour they make anti-Bush comments.
FREE MEDIA COVERAGE!
Oh, and the media will naturally remind you, if you didn't know, about their new film or album.
This is what FAKE 'news' manipulation looks like.
Give it up Steven. You ruined the franchise with that insufferable Chrystal Skull movie. No one wants any more of them, even if you put a woman or transvestite in the lead role.
Mandingo Jones, that should take care of everything.
If only...
But Hollywood is so full of unimaginative greedsters that tacking something onto a going franchise rather than creating a whole new one is their go to plan.
What they really need to do is introduce a group of archeologists, each with a unique super power, that use those powers to unearth amazing secrets like the City of Atlantis or the Gray's base on the Dark Side of the Moon.
Of course one would be a woman, one Asian, one Black, one Hispanic. One of them would be gay or lesbian, and one trans or neutral gendered.
All checkboxes must be checked after all.
That was a bad movie. After all the hand wringing over a script for years that is what they came up with. Could have been so much better.
Oh, the imagination runs wild with these idiots...
Superman should be played by a woman (but of course, should still be called SuperMAN.
Remake the 10 Commandments with Moses played by a woman.
Have the love triangle in a remake of Casablanca played by 3 women.
Iron Man should be played by a woman with Iron Boobs (and be called Iron Man)
The Bird Man of Alcatraz should be played by a Bird Woman (but still be called the Bird Man of Alcatraz)
A woman should play Spartacus.
Saving Private Ryan should be remade with an all-female cast: Hit those beaches girls! I mean, boys!
Rocky and all the sequels should be remade with a female Rocky who still says “yo, Adrienne”, hits sides of beef and all her opponents should be played by women.
I mean why the hell not? Its all the same, right? Anything men can do, women can do, and even better. These remakes will all be smash hits, shatter all gender barriers, give girls new self-confidence and lead the way to a Brave New World! Not to mention that they will set whole new standards for cinematic excellence in realism, in telling stories that appeal to the truth of each person, who has their own truth, chock full of personal truthiness.
If I understand it correctly, there are a really nice pair of reasons for the success of the Tomb Raider franchise, which I don’t think the latest leading lady measures up to. Just sayin’.
The problem with girlifying remakes is that they don’t really remake them. They cast women and tell them to act exactly like men, but not even all men, just Clint Eastwood in his better spaghetti westerns. They nail Eastwood right down to the angry glare and hissing voice.
That really worked well for Ghostbusters.
Spielberg should pay the part of a wuss.
Oh,wait.
Indavagina Jones?
I am sooooo sorry I typed that....
Hollyweird is doing its level best to ensure that I never watch another movie, of any kind, ever again.
