The point is that you don’t have to beat your clothes to death in a wash cycle for 30 minutes. Try reading it again.

Apparently that is what they did...from the article.

Rinse cycle: the top row shows fabric that is rinsed in fresh water, while the bottom row was rinsed in a detergent solution

They’d rather talk about the rinse, than the lousy soap, less efficient washers, and insanely low water amounts people are forced/encouraged to use now to try to clean their clothes.
