Ha. I don’t. Hubby does it with his leaf blower. Thank goodness. More time for FR. LOL
Hopefully Monday will be warm and dry so I can get out there with the rake.
Howdy! Went up last weekend and laid out a soaker hose system at the old rent hose we’re fixing up to sell. Less than an hour after I headed home my neighbor who keeps an eye on things let me know the rain started. Rained all week so it didn’t need the soakers yet. My “curb appeal job” there is looking good so far. Still have a few other things sitting here at home to take up there and plant.
Spent the week at home planting nothing but wedding shower plans for a granddaughter. The two new beds hubby built for my birthday the previous week were calling me every minute! Finally today I transplanted comfrey and cannas out by our garage then put in tomatoes and peppers. Then repotted a few houseplants. Don’t get to spend Easter with any of the grandchildren this year so I’m spending the weekend with my plant children :)
Monday I’ll be back to wedding shower prep. Seems young people don’t do showers so much anymore. Granddaughter’s wedding is in May and no one was doing a shower. I expected at least the ladies at church would do one. The girl was very active in the church before enlisting in the Air Force 18 months ago. Guess that’s too long to be away?

Yeh, I’d like for the good weather to get here. Tomorrow I’ll plant potatoes, if it doesn’t rain. Times change I guess. I haven’t been to a shower in ages. Not sure they do them here either.

Beau started working on the gravel slab, yesterday. ANY excuse to play with the skid steer, LOL!
I think I’ll put peppers in one tomato pot, and radishes/lettuce in the other.
Mother Nature says “No spring for you on April Fools Day!” We haven’t had any precipitation today here in Central Missouri, but apparently conditions to the west are quite bad.
Mrs. Augie drove out to Ft. Riley yesterday to visit the grandboys, and is not having a fun time getting back on I-70. In dry conditions it’s less than four hours from Manhatten to home - it’s taken her a little over four hours to get from Manhatten to Blue Springs today. She said there are cars off and upside down every four or five miles.
Nothing going on in my garden this weekend. The orchard trees are starting to bud out. It won’t be long before they start to bloom.
I’ve got Nanner almost ready to go back to work. I replaced a couple more hydraulic hoses while things were apart and a bit easier to work on. I’m waiting on one more filter to arrive. That isn’t likely to get here before Friday. It’s too muddy to move dirt so no big deal there.
I should be out planting potatoes today, but I’m feeling lazy so that will wait for another day.
We have rain again today. I had hoped to plant taters. It is also cold and getting colder. So I’m not getting much gardening done. Just looking out of the green house at the garlic and wheat.
Now that Hubby is finished painting the floor, I need to rearrange the green house - it is all a jumble, but it’s also pretty cold, so I’m waiting until a sunny day so it will be warmer.
I’ll be waiting to hear about Nanner adventures going forward.
I threw grass seed down on the numerous spots on my lawn. After two straight days of heavy rains. Then it rained two more days but was clear and sunny Easter weekend. Hope it takes.
I bought some yukon gold seed taters today. I’ll cut them and roll them in potting soil later this evening after I’m done working on my charity project.
The company I work for gives employees a four week sabbatical every seven years. I’m taking mine this month. Doing the community service portion of it this week at the local therapeutic riding center. Yesterday I chopped brush, cut and split firewood, and cleaned up a mini toxic waste dump. It’s too nasty to work outside today so I’m fixing the bush hog mower they use to maintain the pastures and trails.
I spent most of the morning running down the parts I needed to put it back in shape. I’ll spend the afternoon in the shop straightening the bent pieces and fabricating some new ones to replace what was lost when it fell apart.
The rain should be out of here tomorrow so I’ll be back to work outdoors. Hopefully will see a bit of sunshine.
We had snow rain and sleet over the weekend. Today we had rain and olive sized hail. Zip/nada activity on garden. OK cause I’m tired and lazy today anyway.
Spent some time outside this morning. Weather was warm but windy, so my plans for cleaning up the debris left by winds. Cleaning up was useless. So watered well and deadheaded and picked a fresh bouquet.
I scored a manure spreader today. A number of years ago a guy “donated” it to the riding center. It needed a new floor at that time. It was parked and never used, just sat there getting more rotten. The lady that runs the place wanted it out of there.
I had to cut a few trees that were growing into it to get it out of where it was sitting. Got it loaded onto the trailer, hauled home, and unloaded without tearing anything up or anyone getting hurt.
It needs one new tire, a new floor, and a good lube job, and probably some other stuff, but it is salvageable.
Such a deal. Fate smiles kindly. So much to do and so little time to do it. I wish the planting season days were 36 hrs. instead of 24. LOL
