It's hard to believe that very little research has been done on second hand smoke of marijuana. Maybe in the academic field, they would be seen as party poopers. "Hey, man, shut up! We don't want to know about anything bad about weed."

I would think smoke from just about any burning material would be harmful and contain carcinogens. Wood, paper, plants, meat, plastic, oil, gas, etc. Too much smoke makes people choke and they want to get away from it. It is well known that firefighters often have health problems from inhaled smoke. Smoke from burning buildings contains carcinogens.

Why would MJ smoke be any different? Is it "magic" smoke?

All smoke is not the same, the particles are different sizes. I heard from a doctor about 30 years ago that the particles in MJ smoke are much larger than cigarette smoke. The cilia in the lungs can push the particles out. With cigarette smoke the particles lodge between the cilia, and eventually kill it. He said that was why you don’t see the rates of cancer and lung disease in pot smokers that you do in cigarette smokers. Sounds plausible.
