NFL owners finalize $90M social-justice deal without resolving anthem protests

NFL team owners have unanimously given their final approval to an unprecedented $90 million social justice initiative but have made no decisions about how to handle players who refuse to stand for the national anthem.

Instead, owners are expected to continue the discussion about whether to change the game-day policy, which does not require players to stand, at the spring league meeting in May, according to a post on NFL.com citing the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

“The NFL is committing $90 million to a new social justice initiative that supports efforts and programs to combat social inequality,” the NFL post said Monday. “In a memo sent to all 32 teams in early December, the league said it plans to work closely with players, teams and other groups in the new and expanded community improvement program.”

I wonder how many fans they’ve permanently lost.

That’s what’s known as a leftist compromise.

Yeah, same here. College football is so much better too. I root specifically for the three service academies! Screw the NFL!

Maybe they can start with the blatant racial caste system firmly in place for white skill players whi are routinely undrafted, unrecruited, buried on depth charts regardless if their performance in high school, college and the NFL! Blatent racism afainst whites in football.

At least one. They just took exactly the action required to ensure that I stay away next season.

It's an odd thing ... in the two years since I quite watching football, I suddenly have more time for shooting and related activities, music (making, not listening), woodworking ... Having Sunday afternoons free during "football season" changed my habits all year.

Yep. For me, social justice is poison. Justice is a personal thing, not a group thing. Anyone who sees it as the latter is the enemy.

Yes yes, I wonder how season ticket renewals are going for the teams.

And as always we will all keep an eye on the ratings for the games this year too. The TV ratings were way off last year and if that continues the NFL is going to take a big Financial hit.

My Lefty co-worker thinks they are going to order all teams to just stay in the locker room until after the anthem is played. He’s probably right.

When we have laws from the representatives of the people, they are enforced and followed, we have justice, social or otherwise.

I’m not sure it is possible for me to convey the depth of the indifference I now feel toward the NFL and NBA - after many decades of being a fan of both sports. Leftists devoured the leagues like locusts, and only shiny, multi-colored husks remain.

Go, Badgers! On, Wisconsin! :)

Much if not most of this money is just being taken from prior charitable initiatives like United Way and other real charities. They are just moving those monies into social justice. Which we all know just means left wing socialist political activism. NFL is dead to me. I will give this new proposed pro football league every chance.

A message to companies who advertise during NFL games: I,like many guys my age are,or were at one time,NFL fans. However, since this Anthem business I've dropped the NFL completely...even though my favorite team (the Pats) were in the Super Bowl.

Also be aware that I,like many guys my age, have the money and the inclination to buy German-made cars, fly to foreign lands, eat at restaurants fancier than Golden Corral and park my investment portfolio with large financial services companies.

But alas,I won't be seeing any of the ads of companies that offer such products/services that might be seen on NFL broadcasts.

Just so you know!

Note to FNFL: Who cares? There will only be College Football watched in this house until the XFL begins play.
