Actually that attitude was VERY common amongst old-school union types in Detroit and Pittsburgh. If you had a job, than your boss was DA MAN, and DA MAN was always SCROOOOOOIN' you. So you had a right to do what you had to in order to get even. It was like an unwritten part of the contract.

I knew Steelworkers, Teamsters, UAW members, all of whom weren't shy about helping themselves to company property.
