heheh. At any rate, my impression comes from watching C-SPAN2 full time for a few years, during the judicial confirmation wars of the Bush era. I've seen "spurt of non-contentious confirmations" more than a few times, and it is always the last day before a recess or adjournment.
Yeah I was not taking the recess into account, I thought they would be in session on Friday, you know like normal people who mostly work Monday thru Friday.
