Out of 82-million in population....there’s around 1.5-million who have a license (either sport license or hunters license). A couple of years ago, they acknowledged that there were around 5.5 million privately and legally held within the country.

I would generally say that 99-percent of the country is safe and a guy doesn’t need to carry a sidearm for his protection. Course, that one-percent....would be categorized as ‘no-go’ areas and it’d be best to avoid those areas.

Hunting is the biggest reason that you’d hold a license and have a collection.

I do see the potential.

The same potential is (I think) active in every state in the Union.

All someone needs to do is go file for a Restraining Order...and bam, you just lost your weapons for a bit.

Seen domestic situations where there was no physical interaction of any kind. Just a crazy chick that wanted revenge for being dumped. Dude lost his gear for 4 years. He didn’t do a damn thing...and the NRA attorneys wouldn’t touch the case with a 10ft pole.

The vast majority of ex-parte orders are travesties of ‘justice’. I’ve had one of those thrown at me by a vindictive and evil ex-wife. If there is a legitimate complaint against this guy, he needs to be able to present his side of things in a judicial context before the government starts stealing his stuff. Until that happens, any government agent attemting to steal same should be considered fair game for lead poisoning.

Government thugs think nothing of my life, liberty, or property. Why the hell should I give a damn about theirs?

Has something changed recently in terms of crazy storage?

Noticing a lot more adult dependents being hospitalized at the VA lately. Like talking to yourself, rocking back and forth kinda dependents. Pretty sure they weren’t former military.

Nurses didn’t seem to want to discuss it, but apparently the care homes are just discharging people that need to be there...

Because they don't want to spend the money t take care of them and because it's considered some sort of "Mentalophobic" hate crime to hold the mentally ill "hostage"......gone are the days we held the real sickos for their own safety and the Public safety - the Dems need them on the loose to have a chance.....

Do you know what “ex parte” means?

It’s an expedidited hearing, with only *minimal*, and often inadequate notice to the other side. Meaning, you may get no more than a phone call letting you know your right to keep your guns will be adjudicated by an Obama/Clinton appointee in 48 hours.

Good luck hiring competent counsel and preparing your case.

But, hey, it’s only Florida, right? It could never happen anywhere else.

Your guns are not going to be taken ‘temporarily’.

Are you at all familiar with the political positions of the AMA? You think physicians won’t wlillingly participate in this? They will be front and center, oh, naive one.

Your argument that the state lacks inadequate resources to ‘bring my rantings to fruition’ suggests a lack of familiarity with how governments operate. They will get the money, don’t worry. Of course, it will be your money. And mine. That’s what happens when you’re busy burying your head in the sand.

Yes, I know what it means. Which is why statute dealing with involuntary commitment provides for the protection of the person’s right following the 72 hour emergency hold. Because the law realizes such orders are issued in a hurry and may not contain all the facts needed to make a more permanent decision. w

Yes, I know how government works. Its inefficiency is one of the best protectors of our liberty.

Your making quite a few assumptions. Did you read the bill, then see how it amends the relevant statute? I am supposing you have not.

Read the statute. Or rather the bill which amends the statute. Then read the statute referred to as “The Baker Act.” These pretty much explain the judicial context. The big problem is that most people in such situations are not aware or made aware of their rights. So they believe they have no choice but to abide by the decision of a doctor whom they do not have an established doctor patient relationship with.

I will totally agree that malicious, vengeful persons can and do take advantage of lazy judges to pervert the intent of laws. I will even go so far as to admit such abuses happen most often in “domestic” situations. And that just outright stinks and the persons responsible should be keel hauled.

People do need to remember that one should never, ever, voluntarily place yourself under an authority that can take away your rights. Because once you do there is no getting out without extreme personal stress and large outlays of money. So though I believe there are times when firearms should be taken away (temporarily) I would never do so voluntarily.

PS. Sorry about the vindictive ex.

Really, even from violent ex felons who have made a credible threat of harm to say the child of a former gang member? So gun ownership by any and all is an absolute right? No such thing as illegal possession of a firearm? The thugs of Chicago will be glad to know this.

I think the law is intended to prevent such things.

Not really.

It is very very hard - much too hard, in fact - to get a dangerous crazy person committed to a psychiatric hospital.

That is true. Makes me wonder if that is the reason Brennan is still yabbering on. The paperwork must be unavoidably delayed.
