You failed to mention why a democrat win proves the democrats will get slaughtered.

How did Trump’s actual vote total compare the the vote totals yesterday? Did the Rep get more or fewer actual votes?

The national republicans do NOT have the will to win.

Worthless Ryan
Worthless McConnell

The Democrats, if one is objective, are losing blue collar, middle class Americans and with great surprise, they are also losing African-Americans & Hispanic-Americans by the thousands everyday. And, to boot, the leadership of the Democrat Party is strongly anti-religion in a very religious country.

Those are reasons why the democrat should have lost this congressional race. Can you explain why he [apparently] won? Or why the race was even close?

It’s aggravating, but ...

If Lamb holds on and wins the special election, he still has to run again in November, does he not?

There will be a chance to field a better candidate. Lamb will have a record of voting with Nancy Pelosi 90+% of the time by then. And Democratic megadonora will not have the chance to concentrate all their money in a single race for a month.

Saccone was selected by party insiders. And yet, given that his total spending (including RNC numbers) exceeded Lamb’s and he had no sex scandal to worry about, he seriously underperformed. Just goes to show that nominees generated by the electorate (e.g. Roy Moore) aren’t automatically worse than the ones generated in smoke-filled rooms by the party’s elite.

Last night you witnessed the birth of a new Democrat Party, a necessary survival fallback to the once "Blue Dog Democrats".

Before making that proclamation, I think it might be a good idea to observe how Mr. Lamb behaves after he takes the oath of office (assuming he actually did win).

"Bait and switch" politicians are by no means a rare species.

They spent a bajillion dollars and bused in thousands of voters for one seat, and they’re broke.

This means nothing in terms of next November.

Generally concur. This is my takeaway from the election of Lamb. He ran as a very conservative candidate and he had no voting record to prove otherwise.

The base of the Democrat Party has moved hard left. The base will never, ever allow or stand for any candidate like Lamb. Therefore, they will be forced to run Bernie-bots... and lose.

This Lamb guy will have about 8 months in office, if Paul Ryan and the RNC were smart, they’d force Lamb to out himself with floor votes. We’ll see if they have the will to do this or not.

What is accurate is that the Repubs need good candidates.

No, it is the same, lefty Rat party. The Rats will still cheer for abortion, demand the disarmament of the American people, and will foist single-payer, national health care on us all.

It will depend on demographics. Pelosi’s district voters would not allow a Lamb like can candidate be the nominonee in a primary. And no republican is going to win her district. A Pelosi like candidate in that PA district would have been slaughtered last night.

The GOP can no longer be the party of the Bushes and Romneys - nobody likes those people, including voters in their own party. The problem is dislodging those types from the party leadership - they think it is their right or duty to rule over the rest of us plebes, in much the same way that the progressives have ruled over the Democrat party for the past few decades. Their might be a resurgence of "Blue Dogs" in the Democrat party, but it is doubtful that they will have any meaningful effect on the party's policies as long as the far Left is running the show. And the same goes for the GOP and their RINO problem - it isn't hard to identify the problem, but it is going to be difficult to fix it.

If Lamb wins:

1) He votes with Trump (as a moderate) then he will have no Democrat support in November and will lose

2) He votes with Pelosi (as a socialist) then he will lose in November

Either way, he loses in November.

This election shows that we are right and the voting public wants a more conservative representative. This was like a primary splitting the vote between a moderate Republican and a conservative Republican.

It proves that people Love Trump, but many hate the GOP and will no longer support candidates other than Trump.

The GOP brand is hurting Trump. He’s given them every chance, but too many traitors means the willl never stop being the Uniparty.

Trump should start his own party, in his own image.

I can tell you what it means to me as a PA resident. The state GOP is sick. Infiltrated with RINO saboteurs who run RINO candidates that ALWAYS get trounced. It’s time good, honest conservatives run for state committee and clean house.

I like your thinking.

And the "lamb" is a terrific metaphor.

I too, have said some months back that the Democrat party was dead, but I did NOT see it re-shaping itself.

Odumbo came out after the 200 Democrat convention and by golly sounded like a Republican and I turned to my kids and said, "THIS guy is dangerous"

Little could I realize at the time they had already polished off his presidential chair and desk.

So now a right leaning democrat Lamb is on the scene ?

THIS party is now MORE dangerous.

Lamb hasn’t won yet though your analysis is correct in my opinion.

Let’s hope he’s as much a “Blue Dog Democrat” as he campaigned as - else, it’s business as usual - say what it takes to get elected then screw those who elected you.....Trump’s the first “politician” since Reagan to actually try to do what he campaigned on.

That voters in Western PA are POPULISTS and not really REPUBLICANS. They’d vote Democrat every time if that party were not so extreme-left on social issues.

That being part of the PA Legislature is a resume killer. That it cements in people’s minds that you are totally untrustworthy. Even more untrustworthy than your predecessor who lied about being Pro Life for 19 years.

That the Catholic Church is more supportive of Socialism than human life. Were it not so they would have called Lamb out over his preposterous “personally opposed” stance.

For the life of me, I don’t understand how people can fall for this junk! The victor will vote party line, hands down. He will be reminded quickly as to his place in the party, and it will be made known that if he does not toe the line, there will be consequences.
This isn’t rocket science, but people are foolish.
