The largest bank note in Venezuela is 100,000 Bolivares. Paying cash for that ham would require 150 100 K bank notes. I read another article that Venezuela is so broke they can’t print bank notes at a fast enough pace so there a premium for cash. The 100 K bank note is selling at a premium on e-bay for $10 or 10 times the black market value in Venezuela. Other countries with hyperinflation have resorted to issuing new currencies looping off zeros and starting the process again.

$10 for 100,000 is a massive rip-off. Last week it was $1 for over 100,000?

There are people with full-time jobs on the verge of starvation in Venezuela.

Venezuela. The model of socialism success that Bernie and the democRATS want to turn the US into.

I suppose we could all afford to lose a few pounds....

Scratch that, last week it went down to $1 for 210,000. The week before it was more than that

Yes, and moreover, a disarmed population with zero food, limited water, intermittent power, home invasions etc.

The people there to a large degree accepted personal disarmament. Not sure how they can expect anyone from another country to put their life on the line to intervene.

"There are people with full-time jobs on the verge of starvation in Venezuela."

I've read that, on average, each person in Venezuela has lost 42 pounds in the last two years.

We Never Could Have Imagined (Or Prepped For) What Actually Happened In Venezuela

It is worse than that. My sister in Christ, a good friend, has family there. It is hard to believe what is happening. Home invasions are used to steal food and clothing. There is zero security. And yet, Christian churches there preach that Christians don’t need tools for self-defense.

There are Chavistas applying for asylum here, it should be noted. Some of them became wealthy under the socialist system. Hopefully, the new asylum rules will root them out. They deserve to be sent back to fix the mess they helped to create.
