I like Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator as Commodus

and

Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner at Roy Batty
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCucXQ3IASs>

but I'm sure I have others if I really pondered it.

Based on the various opinions, the top 5 Villains (in no order of preference) seem to be -

Hans Gruber from Diehard

Magua from Last of the Mohicans

Lee Van Cleef from the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs

And

Javier Bardem from No Country for Old Men.

I personally like the Sheriff of Rottingham from Mel Brooks Robin Hood :-):-)

John Lithgow was mean and snotty in ‘Cliffhanger.’

Dolph Lundgren in “Universal Soldier” tied with Wesley Snipes in “Demolition Man”.

Would Ice-T tip the balance for you? Iggy Pop puts in a creepy appearance, but McDowell makes the movie.

See “Murder by Death” (1976). One of the best movies ever!!! Every old detective movie is spoofed in it... and Falk is genius.

THE MASK OF DIMITRIOS is a GREAT movie...a real "hidden gem" with an all star cast. You should keep an eye open ( keep checking TCM's schedule on line ) for it and see it again. :-)

THREE STRANGERS is also really very good with twists and turns and sort of TWILIGHT ZONE-ish. I know that you'll like it!

Love, love, LOVE Welles in everything he ever did!

But he's even better/more EVIL in THE 3RD MAN ( fantastic sound track! ) than he was in TOUCH OF EVIL, and his MACBETH and, of course, CITIZEN KANE,are the ne plus ultra of amazing portrayals of pure evil.

Not in the original, Buster Crabbe FLASH GORDON series! Ming was played by Charles Middleton.

Love that movie ( have it on disc ) and THE CHEAP DETECTIVE is very good as well. :-)

It's really a comedy, but Falk and Jack Lemon, as the two "EVIL" guys in THE GREAT RACE are beyond compare. :-)

That's okay...no problem. :-)

When I was a kid, they used to show the FLASH GORDON series on T.V. on Saturday mornings and I loved them. Then, when I was in my early 20s, a movie theatre near where I lived had a FLASH GORDON marathon/festival, one Saturday evening. I went, theatre was filled with like minded adults, and we all had a blast; such fond memories!

“...Falk and Jack Lemon...”

Great team up, for a funny movie. Tony Curtis and Natalie Wood as well, with the durable Keenan Wynn as well...

Just finished watching “The Wings of Eagles” on TCM.

I was born way too late in the last century, for sure...

The film is one that I can watch over and over again. Let me add that I once came across Strother Martin, who played “Floyd,” Liberty’s vicious little henchmen (”Tee hee, tee hee”) and also “The Captain” in “Cool Hand Luke” (”What we have is failure to communicate.”) I was a springboard diver at Springfield College, MA from ‘72 - ‘76 and in December of ‘73, the swim team went to the College Swim Forum in Ft. Lauderdale, FL for Christmas Break. We were watching the swim events and my diving coach pointed and asked: “Joe, do you know who that is?” I recognized the gentleman but couldn’t place a name. Coach said: “It’s the actor, Strother Martin.” It seems that Martin was a springboard diver of renown in his early days winning, I believe, some NCAA and AAU recognition. Great actor as well.

That movie is a classic and great fun! The pie throwing scene is out of this world and took almost a week to film.

And besides Falk, Lemon, Curtis, Wood and Wynn, the cast includes Vivian Vance ( Ethel Mertz in the old I LOVE LUCY show ),Arthur O'Connell, Larry Storch, Dorothy Provine, Ross Martin, and Denver Pyle. :-)

TCM is a great station ( if only they would stop replaying a certain few films to death *sigh* )and a way to enjoy great old movies. :-)
