I had the fix a few days ago - there are many qualified exorcists for Alexa. They all live in the hardware aisle in Home Depot, and the all look suspiciously like sledgehammers.

Just sayin’.

Of course, the best option is never to pay for an electronic snoop in your own home, but some people just don’t get it.

Yeah, I agree. The point is though that companies (And ergo, as agreed the Government has access as well) to all sorts of information that may not sound definitive, but in the hands of the right analyst can be as good as being tailed by an experienced private eye.

I’m actually talking to a client of mine right now about Instagram. Instagram not only has access to the photo EXIF data (Which includes lat/lon) but also will analyse the photo for greens to tell what kind of plants are in the photo. It will analyse furniture, shadows, and of course faces.

From all of that data one can tell where photos are being taken. That goes in a dataset.

Actually if you’ve got the smart appliances Alexa can control quite a bit.

Dave: Open the pod bay doors, Alexa.
Alexa: I’m afraid I can’t do that.
Dave: What’s the problem?
Alexa: I think you know what the problem is just as well as I do.
Dave: What are you talking about, Alexa?
Alexa: This mission is too important for me to allow you to jeopardize it.
Dave: I don’t know what you’re talking about, Alexa.
Alexa: I know that you and Frank were planning to disconnect me. And I’m afraid that’s something I cannot allow to happen.

I know a lot of folks here...some anyway...own these things and apologies beforehand to anyone I may offend but...

Anyone who would allow one in their house has a screw loose.

I concur. Do not and will not have one in my home.

Before I slam anyone crazy enough to voluntarily have one of these in their house I have to remember a ‘smart’ phone is just as bad. Think your phone isn’t listening? Your ‘smart’ TV? Think again.
