WASHINGTON, March 7 (Reuters) - An economist who believes that Chinese goods are literally poisoning Americans, advocates ending Washington's "One China" policy and says trade deals have weakened the United States economically with the connivance of U.S. business has emerged as the big winner from renewed turmoil in the White House.

While Peter Navarro says he is not in the running to replace Trump's top economic adviser Gary Cohn, who has said he will quit, he will be a big winner from the departure of a person seen as a bulwark against economic protectionism.

Those sinister businesses! It’s all their fault, yeah, that’s the ticket!

I agree. As a business person with an MBA, I agree that a lot of corporations were pushing the pro China agenda because of the narrow profit margins they were making because of high corporate taxes they were paying. Now they have received the tax cuts it’s time to rethink their strategies and act according. To have a level playing field China have to bring its standard of living at least inline with the United States and othe European countries and stop devaluation of its currency

I definitely agree that people and pets are being poisoned. Toxic drywall. Poison in pet food.

I had a scare. Ordered a light blue denim jacket, initially saw it on some women's site, found best price at amazon, ordered it. Rejected an option to pay more to receive sooner.

It came from a city in the south of China; I tracked it, took about 3 weeks as I recall. I opened it and it had a very strong chemical odor. I stuffed it back in the plastic bag and proceded to amazon and the return process. It was an associate vendor so they forwarded it to them, said I'd hear in 2 days. Didn't. So several days later, I get a reply from amazon stating they had credited my account. A couple days later I thought I'd better check on my card and did. True to their word, it was credited to my card.

I asked my daughter what she thought and she thought it smelled like chemicals, too. I'm not saying it was toxic, but I definitely freared it could be.

Then I decided to check and see if anybody else had bought that coat and reviewed it. Couldn't pull it up in search so went to my order history and clicked on the coat. Not found.

I'm not saying it was toxic. I still haven't thrown it away but intend to, don't want to even touch it again. Could be too much finishing product of some kind.

I think there was an issue of formaldehyde in FEMA trailers after Katrina but not sure if China was implicated. In the past before trading with China, I'd read about people being sickened from domestically manufactured items such as carpeting. And poisoning aspirin in a Chicago drugstore where people died. That's when they passed a law requiring all the extra sealing of containers off-the-shelf for food and drugs. Deli stuff and bakery goods seem to be exempt.

I’ll accept the flames forthcoming when I say I wonder how people without business experience or degrees think the world works. They generally haven’t a clue, just a proclivity for grasping at what is the shiniest bauble.

The politicians and lobbyists long since dead and gone sold America out to China with our manufacturing and nuclear capability. Just think what Clinton and Obama did that we already know of!

I’m not sure it was (just) Democrats.

Actually.

Everyone for the last generation and a half, has been sold out to China. Happy as clams. Rolling in dough.

Except for the fact that everything sold, was sold FROM AMERICA, and sent TO CHINA. Something like 50,000 factories, now in China.

Both parties.

Where do you think the computer you are reading this on, was made?

China was nothing before Nixon “opened” it to the West. They went from 3rd world shiitehole to #2 economic power. How did this happen?

Because America and the West created it (along with India). We provided them with all the tools and know-how to turn around and compete against us...and win.

America created its competitors. And the American people are suffering because of it.

What can China produce (and sell to the USA) that the USA can’t produce itself? It’s time to end America’s addiction to China.

In that respect, it’s not only China (domestic, too). But you may have no idea how right you are.
