Disney is looking into allegations from French artist Hachim Bahous that art he did for a series of albums in 2015 was ripped off for Solo: A Star Wars Story posters.
Bahous made the claim over the weekend via a Facebook post that was set to public, but was changed to private on Monday morning. The Hollywood Reporter got a screenshot before the page was changed, which shows Solo artwork next to Bahous' album covers.

The design firm that came up with “The Reebok Pump” got sued by Reebok for using the idea for a baseball glove manufacturer.

Ha! That’s turning the tables! Disney loves going after folks copying their work ... now someone’s getting them for doing it. Hilarious!

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

To me, the posters look very similar to the album covers.

I wonder how the suit turned out that the Beatles’ My Sweet Lord was ripped off from “He’s So Fine.”

Same here. I made a whole series of images like that more than twenty years ago.

It was a George Harrison solo track. And he lost. Bigly.

I’d say he has a pretty good case.
Pink Floyd decided not to pursue Andrew Lloyd Webber for ripping off the iconic theme of “Phantom of the Opera”, but then they made millions anyway and this artist probably hasn’t.

He’d better not mess with Disney —
they’re no Mickey Mouse outfit.

I wonder how the suit turned out that the Beatles My Sweet Lord was ripped off from Hes So Fine. That wasn't from a Beatles' album. It was from George Harrison's solo album "All Things Must Pass."

It's not theft. It's an homage.

In all likelihood, it was an outside agency that did these posters. Studios don’t typically do that work in house. The designer will get fired and the design agency won’t get work from Disney again. And no lawsuit against the studio will go anywhere, if only because a) it’s hard to show damages, and b) Disney has an army of lawyers on staff who LIVE for this sort of thing. French graphic designer dude is the unlikely to have the resources to go after them. Notice that he’s trying to hide his previous posts now. He’s realizing that he’s way better off letting this go than making a big issue of it.

Surely. I mean he’s French
and homage is French for cheese. ;)
