FORT HUACHUCA Family and MWR, the Sierra Vista Riding Club and Cochise College will host its annual rodeo competition at Wren Arena, on Fort Huachuca, on Saturday and Sunday.
Spectators will witness National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association events, such as bareback riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, team roping, barrel racing, saddle bronc riding, goat-tying and steer wrestling.
Last year, both the Cochise College women and mens rodeo teams were first-place finishers, and had multiple competitors finish in the top five spots individually.
The competition begins Saturday at 1 p.m., but the gates will open at noon. On Sunday, the championship rounds will begin at 1 p.m., but the morning will be full of family-friendly events. At 10:30 a.m., there will be an Exceptional Rodeo, which will give special-needs children the opportunity to conduct rodeo-like events.
The competition is open to the public, but tickets are required for entry. Advance tickets can be purchased for $6. Tickets at the gate may be purchased for $8. Active-duty military members and children under 6 get in free.
For more ticket information, call 520-533-2404.
