For nearly 20 years, Monica Lewinsky said she accepted the idea that she was an equal, willing partner in her Oval Office affair with President Bill Clinton and that any “abuse” came in the political storm that followed when she was made “a scapegoat” to protect him and his presidency.
But she says that her perspective has changed in recent months, as she writes in a new essay in Vanity Fair. That’s because of the #MeToo movement, which she and others point out has exposed the sometimes complicated ways in which powerful men are able to sexually prey on those less powerful, and rely on their positions to protect them and to silence their victims.
“Now, at 44, I’m beginning (just beginning) to consider the implications of the power differentials that were so vast between a president and a White House intern,” Lewinsky writes in her essay published online Sunday. “I’m beginning to entertain the notion that in such a circumstance the idea of consent might well be rendered moot.” She added that power imbalances and the ability to abuse them “do exist even when the sex has been consensual.”

I don’t recall all the details (would rather forget them), but wasn’t Monica’s relationship with Bubba completely consensual, i.e., he was not pressuring, harassing or assaulting her, and she was pursuing a relationship with him to some extent. Not to mention the fact that Monica seemed to care nothing about the fact that he was a married man, and had dreams about marrying Bubba herself.
It was too bad for Monica that the Whitewater investigation morphed into an investigation of Bubba’s sex life (I think because of Paula Jones), and Monica got caught in the net.

That said Monica's mother should have told Monica that older powerful men are NOT going to give up power and riches to 'leave the wife who 'doesn't understand them' for a young starry eyed bimbo.
The African "Prince" who wants you to split large sums of money with him if you'll help him get his cash out of the country? He's lying too.
And Weinstein? He's NOT going to give every easy lay a job in the movies...

I'm surprised some African "Prince" didn't contract Monica about the fortune his father had left him... and how he needs her help to get the money out of Africa - and will give her half...
She'd still be defending the guy - maybe he really was kidnapped and would give her her share soon... it's possible. /s

God Bless Monica. She landed right in the middle of the Clinton dirt and was ripped to pieces - by feminazis of all people.
She is correct.
And gross is an understatement.
Oral sex? My foot!
While it was a consensual affair, there was a gigantic imbalance of power. And she had been abused sexually as a teen. It gives people the wrong impression about adult life. She assumed what she was doing was normal adult behavior. She wasn’t married. And he was sexually abusing his subordinate.
