FULL TITLE: One THIRD of millennials only brush their teeth once a day - and most Americans would rather go without sex for a month than see a dentist, study reveals
One third of millennials only brush their teeth once a day, according to a new study.
Even in adulthood, the research revealed that Americans can be neglectful of their oral hygiene, with 62 percent reporting that they were too scared to go to the dentist.
Skipping the ritual sounds harmless enough, but going without brushing and flossing has been linked to health risks ranging from gum disease to dementia and even erectile dysfunction.
The study, conducted by market research company OnePoll and commissioned by a toothpaste brand, adds to recent work that has identified startling links between oral hygiene and income disparity and overall health in the US.

Please FReepers don't tell me I'm getting old!!
Do they not teach kids brushing and flossing in the 3rd grade like they used to?
Being lectured to by the bloody Brits about oral hygiene is ludicrous. That’s not who we are! And who said you had to brush multiple times a day? I know people do but I hadn’t heard it was a requirement.
Outstanding post! Have a Guinness and a kitten.
My ex-wife must REALLY have not wanted to go to the dentist.
Good grief I grew up having to brush my teeth after every meal, when I got up out of bed and before I went to bed! So that was what? 5 times a day!
Brits talking about bad teeth? LOL.
That’s like them discussing bathing habits....or good food!
That sounds a bit extreme! WOW.
I started brushing ONCE A DAY at bed time fifty years ago. I use straight baking soda, no tooth paste as I can’t stand the smell or taste. I am 71, still have all my teeth. A few cavities before I started brushing once daily. Mom loved sweet cakes.
Hey! TidePods clean your teeth and clear your mind. Marie Harf swears by them.
My dentist recommends brushing and flossing three times a day.
When I say I'm at work during the day, he says "So why can't you brush and floss in the bathroom?"

And here come the libtards with demands for free dental care.

I'm not going to need my teeth after I'm dead anyway ...
Hmmm. I’m almost 69. Haven’t had a cavity in about 60 years. I have all 32 of my teeth, yes including all 4 wisdom teeth. I have two crowns, never had a root canal.
I brush and floss once a day, and rinse my mouth out with a solution of bleach and water once a day. I use a dental pick to clean out plaque buildup on the inside of my lower front teeth when needed in between my every 5 months checkups. Dentist says I’m doing great.
My third grader just got his teeth sealed for free at school last week. I guess if you are going to offer 3 meals a day you might as well give them everything.
On that note Arm and Hammer makes Pods too!

Flossing is ten times as important
After EVERYmeal
Then I chew gum
I wondered how long it was going to take before we saw Austin Powers on the thread, made me laugh out loud. I hate the dentist and only go every 3 or so years. And, every time I go, they give me a lecture about how I need to come in every 6 months, then are amazed at how clean my teeth are and how healthy my gums are.
