In School Shooting’s Painful Aftermath, Sheriff Faces Questions Over Police Response.

The Broward County sheriff on Wednesday defended his office’s response to one of the deadliest school shootings in American history amid questions over whether some of his deputies hung back instead of pursuing the gunman accused of killing 17 people.

...

Sheriff Israel also said that the only armed guard at Stoneman Douglas High, Deputy Scot Peterson, never discharged his gun during the shooting.

...

Tim Burton, a Coral Springs police officer assigned to a nearby elementary school, responded to the shooting. He said in an interview on Wednesday that he had seen Deputy Peterson in a Stoneman Douglas High parking lot, where at least one school employee believed the gunman might be.

Deputy Peterson “was seeking cover behind a concrete column leading to a stairwell,” said Officer Burton,

Police resource office on site at school, and "sought cover" when the shooting started.

Hey, at least he got to go home safe!

“This is a fluid investigation.”

I'll bet it is.

Deputy Peterson will likely receive a promotion in the coming weeks.

So far, anyway, this is not as bad as the Columbine guard. He saw the two perps going into the school with guns, craped his pants, and hid underneath a car in the parking lot until the police surrounded the building.

There was a police officer assigned TO THE HIGH SCHOOL where the shooting was.

The officer posted at the elementary school ran past him while he ran toward the sound of gunfire.

Wow. I guess that’s why we have heard very little about the officer on campus.

And you wont hear much about it.

The lefty gun grabbers want us to rely on the police for protection, so this doesn’t fit the narrative. The boot lickers don’t want to talk about this either. “Only police should have guns”.

You’re on your own, citizen!

I read elsewhere that he was in a different part of the large school campus. That is why armed teachers make more sense.

Wonder how they feel about the “painful aftermath” of all 3300 abortions everyday? Silly question.

Think about the term “gun violence”. I’ve never met a VIOLENT gun. I’ve met some violent people. And THEY will, if disposed to become killers, find ways to kill! Would you also prohibit sale of materials like diesel fuel, ammonium nitrate and steel pipe and fittings - ALL necessary to the functioning of a modern society and innocent enough alone but - as demonstrated by muslim morons - capable of killing hundreds at a time in an instant?
The FBI COULD have kept this idiot in Florida away from his guns BUT THEY WERE TOO BUSY to even INTERVIEW HIM???
And ask yourself WHY - in this highly computerized culture - our various law enforcement agencies DO NOT share background information with one another? Am I paranoid to think that perhaps these sad murders of innocents aid in advancing some totalitarian agenda as they attempt to whip otherwise intelligent people into a frenzy to herd them in a direction they wish them to go? Look up Hegelian Dialectic for starters. There are forces at work in the world today that pay no heed to what most of us consider rules of civilized behavior. They are only guided by what advances their agenda. Does the old phrase “You can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs” come to mind.
Some quotes to ponder:
“A free people should not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might abuse them, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT.” That from George Washington!

And the late DEMOCRAT Senator and presidential candidate Hubert Humphery offered this on the topic:
“The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against
arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny
which now appears remote in America, but which historically
has proved to be always possible.”
(Ed. Comment: Heavens, how the Democrats have changed!)

And consider the IRONY that the 4th Estate (which has largely morphed into a 5TH COLUMN) always raises the false argument that the Founders never envisioned the advent of weapons like the AR15 and other modern arms. Those 56 men were students of history and the knew well the failings of human nature. They understood that the Constitutional economic and political system they sought to leave as their legacy would produce abundance and liberty for more people than any in history. They ALSO knew that it would spawn advances in technology that would some day make the physical artifacts common in THEIR day the relics they have become in ours. THAT INCLUDED WEAPONS of all sorts!
Now here’s the irony: If one applies to the Second Amendment the media’s claim that ordinary citizens “...the people..” today should ONLY be allowed to possess unrifiled, muzzle loaded flintlock muskets, that “logic” would limit THEM to writing today’s latest “fake news” by dipping quill pens into ink wells and scribbling on parchment!
And for those who still believe that the media are benign innocents simply “journalizing” events here, I’m compelled to add this from Mark Twain:
“Do not fear the enemy, for your enemy can only take your life. It is far better that you fear the media, for they will steal your HONOR.  That awful power, the public opinion of a nation, is created in America by a horde of ignorant, self-complacent simpletons who failed at ditching and shoemaking and fetched up in journalism on their way to the poorhouse.”

Let me wrap this with a fact MOST humans find so disturbing that they refuse to confront it: MOST OF THE HUMANS KILLED OVER HISTORY WERE MURDERED BY GOVERNMENTS.
It’s called DEMOCIDE and 260 MILLION people died at the hands of a government in just the 20th century.
And THAT is why those of us who still possess critical thinking skills and have families STILL outnumber those who repeatedly call for steps toward the ultimate goal of the left: Total disarmament of this population.

I read this morning that much confusion was caused by the video surveillance.

For some reason it played with a 20 minute delay on the monitor the Police commanders were watching, which is why they could not figure out where the shooter was before he escaped.

My cousin works at a nearby school.

She said a Sheriff’s deputy and car are typically stationed right in front of the main entrance.

The shooter, according to my cousin, entered on the opposite side of the school, through the gate to the senior student parking lot, which is unlocked just a few minutes before the dismissal bell rings.

The female student security guard on that gate was killed, but my cousin said it is not clear when she was killed, or where she was found.

That's tough, she was where she should have been, and stood in the way of fire.

That’s terrible.

I hate to say it, but the sheriff’s departments in Florida are not the best in the law enforcement services. There’s traditionally been a lot of nepotism, good-ol’-boy stuff, and even corruption, usually consisting in letting their friends go free. We even had a sheriff here who covered up for his son’s murder of his wife (the son’s wife), and of course he was never charged with being an accessory after the fact or anything, even though he had helped dispose of the body.

In addition, I just don’t think they’re as professionally trained as the police departments.

What? Cowardice before the enemy. Never heard of such an account. If accurate I certainly hope the fine officer is doing time in the big house. Holy smoly.

A couple of years ago there was a video accusing this sheriff of impregnating a 17 year old girl. Don’t know if it’s true, but if we play according to the Left’s rules (and he is a HUGE Lefty), we don’t really need PROOF do we?
