Fox News host and reliable Donald Trump supporter Sean Hannity is all in favor of the actor George Clooney running for president in 2020, a possibility floated by The Drudge Report on Tuesday under the banner: "Clooney 2020 Vision?" (Drudge linked to an article about Clooney and his wife, Amal, donating $500,000 to a planned student march on Washington, D.C. to advocate for gun control.)
"My attitude is, 'Run, George, run,'" Hannity said on his radio show on Tuesday afternoon. "If George Clooney wants to run, I'm all for it."
Hannity compared Clooney to another entertainer who has been bandied about as a presidential candidate despite not expressing any real interest in running for president.
"I think Oprah Winfrey would be infinitely better as a candidate than George Clooney," he said.
Clooney said his family will attend the march, slated for March 24. "Our family will be there on March 24 to stand side by side with this incredible generation of young people from all over the country, and in the name of our children Ella and Alexander, we’re donating 500,000 dollars to help pay for this groundbreaking event," he said. "Our children’s lives depend on it.”
But, while Hannity (somewhat sarcastically) boosted a Clooney campaign, the Fox News host is bearish on a candidate Clooney's platform.
"I think George Clooney's positions, when they come out, would be so asinine to be hilarious," Hannity said on Tuesday.
Until this moment, I had not realized just how thin the potential candidate bench was on that side of the isle.
The democrats are truly in a tail spin. They have no platform, no ideas, no candidates, nothing. Who is their serious potential candidate? Joe Biden? Pocahontas? Chelsea Clinton?
And it just occurred to me who would be nominated for the Dems in 2020. Michelle Obama is a shoe in for them.
It’s just stupid enough. A black woman? Named Obama? That is a no-brainer for a crowd without brains.
The whole campaign would be about getting “Obama in office for his 3rd term”.
Worst actor ever.
He has the range of emotions similar to that of a tree stump.
I think they need to put Jennifer Lawrence out there. Isn’t there some way we could build her up as the Next Great Hope?
Ok, so she won’t be old enough, but if they could force Obozo upon us surely they wouldn’t let a tiny thing like age qualification get in the way.
All the Democrats have is hate, fear-mongering, identity politics, and anti-Trump messages. I wouldn’t be surprised if Michelle Obama runs.
Oprah is far more in touch with reality than Clooney. This is the type of rumor that will coalesce people around Oprah. Clooney is her Sister Souljah.
If he does, he’ll be “a man of constant sorrows.”
