We will lose, history shows our rights and all that goes with it losing. Has the frog boiled to death?

I would say the record gun sales this last decade clearly shows that the silent majority knows that if the ballot fails, there is always bullets.

We should probably learn to spell it before we contemplate using it.

“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” — Winston Churchill

re: “The 2nd ammendment is useless...”

It is obvious that the OP has never heard the phrase:

“Carry much, shot little”.

Ask an elder plainclothesman about his pocket piece, and how often he used it, on the range or ‘in the nature of his business’.

Yes, the 2nd Amendment is meant for the citizen to have an ultimate answer for a government grabbing power it has no business grabbing.

It is also that the right of the individual (something that all governments fear and loathe) for self-preservation, and that is not dependent upon government to provide in their slothful manner, such protection.

A fire extinguisher... insurance... firearms... post-holers...

Lots of things I hope to never, ever use... and yet prefer to have around... that does not make them "useless".

What do you say to the argument that the second amendment is useless ONCE WE USE IT.

In other words, just having an armed population has served its purpose for over 200 years.

Alexander Hamilton wrote in Federalist #8:

...if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little, if at all, inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their own rights and those of their fellow-citizens.

Once we "use it," we're in a shooting war with a modern military, not a "brother versus brother" war with single-shot carbines like the last time.

Today, the second amendment is a mutually assured destruction compact between We the People and the government of the United States.

Just something to think about...
