Sheer hype brought it money.
I predict that it will plummet after a couple of weeks and that its sequel will be a complete failure.

My take is that this reminds me of the Black Exploitation films of the 1970’s. It is just a Big Budget film that does have crossover appeal, much like “Shaft” was in 1971.
Personally I am burned out on these Comic Book and Sci-Fi movies, so I probably want see it until it turns up on Netflix or something.

I’ve not seen any of the comic book movies and don’t intend to. What’s the big deal about this one? Did they make a black guy the hero? I thought that has been a fixed rule in Hollywood for many years now.
