I actually read an article (possibly here on FR) that Academics are so heavily pressured to load up on published articles, and legit Journals limited in space to publish, there’s been an explosion of “low-end” Journals that for a $$$ fee will publish whatever you send them. And there you go. Academic excellence, published.
But the “consensus” of “scientists” reviewing the article declared it spiffy.

Very true. Earning a doctorate years back took patience to be published, sometimes years. Today, it a guarantee.
