Are You Black Enough to Watch Black Panther? A Quiz
The Root ^ | February 12, 2018 | Damon Young

Posted on 02/14/2018 11:45:56 AM PST by EdnaMode

Black Panther premieres to the general public this week. And as we all already know, it will be the blackity, black, black, black, black, black, blackest thing that will ever happen in the history of black people, blackness and people. So black that instead of ticket stubs, the box office will give you a reparations check. So black that instead of popcorn, the concession stands will sell buckets of white tears—frozen, caramelized and sprinkled with Old Bay. So black that apparently the first 15 minutes of the movie is just an Ida B. Wells hologram playing spades with Danny Glover. So black that at each theater will be actual Black Panthers with actual black panthers on chains ready to sic on white people.

Naturally, all of this tremendous and transformative and transcendent blackness has made some of us self-conscious. Sure, you listened to Lemonade and you drink lemonade every day, which makes you sufficiently black. But are you black enough to even watch Black Panther without getting vertigo? Without being overcome with PTBD—post-traumatic blackness disorder?

From the hype I’m seeing, I have to wonder how advanced Sub-Saharan Africa would be today had it not been for the scourge of European colonialism. /s

If you go to see BP, but didn’t see Avengers, you’re a racist.

Apparently not, so I won’t be seeing it.

Is Mr. Damon Young black enough to be accepted as African, among Africans, in Africa? Not likely at all. They’d call him “colored.”

I would have probably watched it at some point, as most of the Marvel movies are pretty decent. Now, however, with all the hype and SJW crapfest going on around it, they’ve guaranteed I’ll never watch it.

Whenever I think about the elites hating my deplorable White self, I just remember:

Batman loves me; this I know,
For the comics tell me so.

Maybe, maybe not.

If they stay true to the comics then they are not going to get what they want.

If I am unfortunate to have a major debilitating stroke, I might wander aimlessly into the cinema when this is playing. Does that count?

That's because Whitey came in and stole the brightest among them to pick our cotton.

Don't you know your history?

If it's true to the classic vision of the comics, Wakanda SHOULD be a crown jewel of capitalism.

The Wakandans discover that they've an entire mound of the rarest metal known to man. So what do they do? Their chief has them sell minute quantities of it to the outside world which is willing to pay extremely high price for it. Meanwhile the chief has the best and brightest of his people be sent abroad to study modern science, technology, economics, politics etc. They come back to Wakanda with their new learning. The Wakandans invest in themselves with the money from vibranium metal and knowledge they've acquired. In a short amount of time one of the poorest and most primitive nations in Earth becomes the wealthiest per capita and the most technologically advanced.

THAT should be the focus of the movie. It's message of pro-capitalism and self-sufficiency.

No nation in Africa, populated and governed by actual Africans, has produced anything much more advanced than a mud hut since the Egyptians, and of course, the Egyptians were not "sub-Saharan" Africans.

Really?

What are Ethiopians if not "sub-Saharan" Africans?

The Churches of Lalibela

Will it be like the old blacksploitation films of the 1970s in which the most evil villain will have the blackest skin?
