I was glad to see so many Christian places of worship! I thought for sure A.D. would have a bunch of New Age, Indian and Islamic sites instead.
Michigan has many beautiful churches; wish they wouldve chosen one of them instead of the mosque in Dearborn

They got AZ wrong. St Francis Xavier Del Bac is the most beautiful. A National Historic Landmark, San Xavier Mission was founded as a Catholic mission by Father Eusebio Kino in 1692. Construction of the current church began in 1783 and was completed in 1797. The oldest intact European structure in Arizona, the church's interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings. It is a place where visitors can truly step back in time and enter an authentic 18th Century space.

I’m not surprised that the Indiana pick was from Columbus; but that city would also make the list of most ugly churches in America (First Christian Church).
One of the criteria for the list given seems to be cultural diversity. Some of the choices are quite ugly, even by modernist standards.
As for the Texas choice, the building is quite ugly on the outside - patterned after a concrete farm silo. First Presbyterian (liberal, PCUSA) a few blocks away is much more attractive, both inside and out.

Kind of ironic that we can’t take it with us but we like to spend a lot to make “places of worship” breathtaking in their display of riches....

I disagree about the National Cathedral in Washington DC. I would have given it to Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Ive been to both and while the Cathedral is impressive, I dont think it compares to the Basilica.

It would be interesting, if making a round-the-country road trip, to include this list of sites as possible places to visit.

Fort Myer Chapel for Virginia? What were these folks smoking? Lee Chapel at VMI is ten times better, but you’ll never see that on here. St Johns in Richmond where Patrick Henry gave the “Give me liberty or give me death” speech is nicer than Fort Myer.
