The Olympics are on?
I won’t say I’m boycotting but with all the insults coming from athletes directed at the President and Vice President...I’m just not interested.
??? Opening ceremonies on tonight, though I probably won’t watch.
The Olympics have gotten political like most other sports.
They’ll never learn (or care) how off-putting that is.
Already I understand some black athlete is angry that, of all things, a flip of a coin awarded a white athlete the opportunity to carry Old Glory.

Maybe if they offered a wider range of feeds that are open for all, I would tune in.
Even with Direct TV it’s very difficult to find events to watch.
If it’s your thing, fine. But I’m not interested in figure skating.
Olympics lost their special status when they went from a combined Olympics every four years, to every two. IMO
My wife is from South Korea so we have a reason for watching.
Who needs the drama ? I got enough stuff going on in my life already.
Perhaps the IOC should start webcasting its own events, rather than relying on NBC to broadcast them. The need to shoehorn the coverage of the events around the network’s existing schedule is a problem. If viewers could choose to stream the events as they happen, or at a time of their own choosing, it would probably increase viewership.
Fox just did the same with the Thursday Night NFL package.
The olympics are in trouble, I’ve heard, in that, fewer and fewer places are even placing bids to host future olympics.
There’s a certain amount of money, graft, etc. surrounding the olympics. But the money could dry up, if nobody in the world wants to pay enormous amounts of money to host the games, and if TV networks such as NBC take a financial bath on the games. If ratings drop, NBC could easily lose money here.
MUST SEE TV is so last century.

Sure viewing for me is hockey and short track skating events. I will also watch some ski jumping and down hill events, that’s it.
I recorded the ‘Team Figue Skating’ and the Moguls runs last night. When I started watching, I realized that, in the first 40 minutes, I had seen exactly 4 ‘short programs’ (2-3 minutes) of men’s figure skating. Nearly everybody fell at least once. If I watch anything in the Olympics this year, I will certainly DVR it as I could not care less in regards to all the talking, opinions, etc, of the commentators. SHUT UP AND SHOW US THE COMPETITIONS!

After short-stroking the gay skater vs VEEP for a couple of days, they should not be surprised when people tune out.
They love to lecture us dumb rubes, but us dumb rubes do not enjoy being lectured to.
The last thing I need is to listen to twenty hours about who is sleeping with which sex. Unless they intend to broadcast the sex, it is not relevant.
