I respectfully disagree. The booster money does not pay the salary of Jimbo Fisher at A&M. Boosters contribute to the “program” but that salary is directly from the School which is paid directly from tuition revenue and state support. Totally subject to Board approval. INSANE!!
The top college athletic departments are taking in 200 million, and most of that is from football.

You believe that the football coach’s salary comes from student tuition and the state? Of course not.
It’s my business because they get tax money from my state government and I pay tuition for one of my daughters to go there. I agree it’s ridiculous. Why are we paying so much for a guy to teach a bunch of kids - supposedly there for school - to play a game?
No I do not believe that. I absolutely know that.
Nick Saban is the most Underpaid public servant in the state of Alabama, based on what he returns to the University.
ROLL TIDE
Truly the best commercial ever. It’s actually not too far from the truth. Saban is worth whatever it takes. Roll Tide!
He needs to cut Meyer’s salary. He had no problem when he hired Meyers for what was a large salary at the time.
He’s worried about keeping up with the Joneses.
On the other hand, maybe he needs to pay Meyers what Michigan pays their coach.
Depends upon the university and state involved. The University of Florida set up the University Athletic Association in its early years. This group pays the coaches’ salaries, builds athletic facilities etc. from revenue generated from football revenue, along with other sources. The stadium and all athletic facilities are built with revenue generated by the sports (mostly football).
>>Texas A&M is so stupid they paid a coach that was 6 and 4 - 75 million
He was actually 5-6 at the time of his resignation though his team did win their final regular season game and bowl game. However, he won 10+ games in every season he was at FSU other than 2017 and 2011 when he won 9. That includes 3 seasons of 12+ wins and a national championship. We can debate whether that is worth 7.5 million a year, but if there is any stupidity here, it really rests with you either not knowing the facts or intentionally misleading others.
I agree that Sumlin’s contract extension was a poor decision by the board of regents, but those that actually negotiated it back then were the ones that paid his buyout. A&M itself is not on the hook for that.
Given your handle, I suspect you went to tech which explains you not knowing (or not posting) the entire factual situation. If tech could have afforded and actually been a place Fisher wanted to coach, you would be singing his praises regardless fo what he costs if you had him. So please, knock off the stupidity talk. Kingsbury at tech has been paid approximately $15 million over 5 years for 30 wins. 500K a win! Not to mention running off an eventual Heisman winner.
So tell me again about stupidity.
A&M could have had a 6 and 4 coach by hiring Kingsbery for 10 million— Not 75!! I have never seen such a bone headed move by supposedly educated people in paying 75 million to this mediocre coach. A&M is desperate to get in the second tier in football but they should not do so with tax payers money!!
