We used to hunt ducks on salt water near Juneau back in the 90's - scoters, goldeneyes, a few mallards and would have dead birds land in the boat on occasion. If you didn't pick up the floaters quickly, either a bald eagle or sea lion would help themselves.
The bag limits were generous and it was normal to come home with 30 or 40 ducks before noon, then the work began.
