FULL TITLE: House of Horrors family may have fled Texas when one of their daughters tried to call for help, neighbor explains, giving new details on the state of squalor the couple left one of their Fort Worth homes
The California house of horrors family left their home in Texas just days after one of the 13 tortured siblings escaped in a failed bid for help, a former neighbor claimed.
David and Louise Turpin lived in a home in Fort Worth, Texas from around 1999 to 2010 before leaving it suddenly and moving to Murrieta, California, Nellie Baldwin, a former neighbor who later bought the home told The Mercury News.
The couple apparently lived in that home for a few years - but trashed it so badly, leaving feces on the walls, a rotting bathroom floor, knocked in doors and trash strewn everywhere, that they had to move into a trailer home on the 36-acre property.
And in 2010, the end of roughly six or seven years they lived in the trailer, one of the children allegedly tried to escape and find help. She said one of the daughters 'went walking down the road' but didn't get too far when a neighbor spotted her and took her home.
'All of a sudden they just disappeared,' the 78-year-old said. 'No one ever saw them again.'

There is something fishy about this whole story.
You see group pictures of the kids all together, wearing the same outfit and smiling, then you hear horror stories.
Then a neighbor finds a kid walking the street and takes the child back home- and they are calling it an ‘escape attempt’?
Why did the neighbor take the kid back home? Why didn’t she call the police?

You just know that neighbor is kicking herself right now. Hindsight is 20/20. Many thought the kids were special needs and she may have thought the kid just “wondered off”.
Been following this on many sites and neighbors saw the kids packed up in the middle of the night and taken places, found that odd that it was the only time they left. Well yea! Again hindsight.
However after seeing this house when they left? Oh yea someone should have called no one lets kids live in a mess like that! People really messed up big time then.
I think the pictures of the silly vow renewals and Disney visits were for consumption of extended family. I heard the mother’s sister say they wanted to see the kids, even just talk to them. It’s possible that those fb pictures of a seemingly happy family would make people think the kids were ok, even if the family was nutty and estranged.
This is true but the kid was 29 and looked 12!!! The Hills have Eyes but right now they have glaucoma?
I have rent houses, and reported something like this to Texas CPS when a tenant with five kids moved out. Took pictures. Open half-full hard alcohol bottles all over the place within easy reach of children. Filth and feces everywhere. Rotting take out food in containers all over the place. So many full fly strips on the ceiling that it looked like a fly-themed birthday party venue.
CPS visited them in their “new” rental they had just move into -— was still nice and clean there so they said it was all OK. That was about a year ago, so I can’t imagine what that place looks like now.
By the way, she manages a local restaurant that I never patronize anymore -— yikes!!!
Hard to believe these people were under the radar for so many years particularly with the number of kids they had. Hope they get life in jail.
