When I was very, very young my brother and I watched
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea on Disney one Sunday night. I was just at the age when I was mastering my potty training and my brother convinced me that giant squid could reach their tentacles through sewer pipes all the way to our upstairs commode.
That's pretty much been my gold standard for cinematic horror ever since.
