The Eagles fans at first engage him, but then get more and more annoyed. Some tell him to "Beat it!"
The Cowboys fan then starts shouting to the rest of the bar: See! They called me names and were rude to me! A few level headed patrons approach the Cowboys fan, and ask him to leave. He refuses, and starts accusing the fans of having wronged him all over again. He then says, "I bet the owner of this bar has rules against this kind of thing! Someone should do something!
Some people in the bar plead with him: "Look pal, we don't want no trouble here. This is an Eagles fans bar. Why don't you finish your drink and be on your way?"
The Cowboys fan shouts all the louder: "I don't have to go anywhere! It was THEY who said bad things about me! Maybe I'll just call the police?"

EVER!
On the one hand, I want to very sincerely thank you for taking so much time to write out that example. I very much appreciate it.
Otoh, the scenario described doesn’t even remotely come anywhere close to describing what has happened on these threads over the past couple of days. One possible explanation for that has already been suggested to me. Namely, that I get grouped together with others who may be more inclined toward insults and name-calling than I am. I.e.: I get tarred with the same brush.
If that’s not the issue, then I can’t explain it. I haven’t behaved in the manner of the villain in your illustration.
