I actually enjoyed flying back in the 1960s and 1970s.
People would dress up. The airlines served meals. The stewardess were all good looking. It was a special event.
Today airlines are just Greyhounds without the class.
Be thankful you didn’t have a Captain like this for your pilot. I have been going through old pictures and seeing how my husband and I dressed up for a flight from CA to NY State in 1966 was hysterical. I think it was in 1986 when we decided we would wear jeans etc., on a flight back to CA from NY State. Never dressed up again for flying. I remember in the fifties buying outfits just for flying on vacations.
