Still Friends? The trouble with old sitcoms (90's sitcom "Friends" was sexist and homophobic!)

They’d probably have a stroke watching “Three’s Company”

>>punchline of every joke about Ross is that his ex-wife is a lesbian, as if that’s some failing of his and that it’s hilarious that she’s a lesbian.
As opposed to joke where the punchline is “he’s a conservative” or “he dresses, dances, talks,...” like a white person.
Plenty of those in the MSM for 40 years

"and I just want to jump into the tv and strangle him"
That's a far more hateful thing to express than a few jokes about homosexuals. That's what political correctness has become, however--targeting your suppressed hatred at the "right" people.

The country has changed so much.
We used to be normal, and TV used to show normal human reactions.
Now it’s all weird and we have to pretend that we like it and accept it and support it and think it’s normal. If you don’t, you will be destroyed.

I don't think it's phony. I think they actually are that neurotic and that immature.

Reporting on 3-4 tweets is now journalism. That should upset more people than a stupid, fictional show from years ago.

Man, this show takes me back. Me and my college buddies would watch “Must See TV” and then “ER” and then hit the bars.

I have the DVD set for the Bob Newhart show. The way he treated his wife is cringe-worthy today, but was normal for the times, I suppose.

The irony is strong with this when you consider that Friends was one of the shows that brought the leftist agenda into the mainstream. It was considered edgy and brave at the time for NOT sweeping gay lifestyles under the rug.
Forward 25 years later we are in the far left world that Friends helped to create, yet the children it spawned are now rejecting it. There's a cautionary fable here just waiting to be written...

It’s interesting because I thought the whole lesbian wife thing was part of the “gay normalization” at the time. The left can’t go far enough left.

“Three’s Company” itself was a cop-out. The show was based on a British series called “Man About the House.” The man in the British series makes John Ritter look like a closeted homosexual if compared side by side. Our puritanical distaste for sex shapes everything.
