It was fixed! Conspiracies abound over Alabama’s win over Georgia

For some Georgia fans Monday’s loss to Alabama in the College Football Championship, though tragically heartbreaking, filled them with hope and pride.

For other Bulldogs watchers it was deja vu watching a team rise in joy only to crumble in defeat.

And yet for others, the overtime loss was the result of a sinister force -- the Big Ten referees officiating the game.

Media outlets and fans alike point to a litany of missed calls that allowed Alabama to claim its fifth title in nine seasons.

Here are some of the cited incidents of flagrant favoritism to the Tide:

• Bulldogs are ahead 20-13 with 4 minutes in regulation. Alabama faces a fourth-and-4. Tua Tagovailoa hits Calvin Ridley in the back of the end zone to tie the game.

• In the third quarter, Georgia appeared to block a punt. Georgia’s Tyler Simmons was called offside ... but was he?

• TV cameras caugh several missed facemask pulls.

And yet for others, the overtime loss was the result of a sinister force --

This is becoming the new national mentality.

The dawgs conspired not to make any first downs in the fourth quarter.

I was pulling for them, but they choked like a dawg!

It was a sinister force. It was the force that distracted the Bulldog defensive backs. That distraction caused them to let a wide out beat them deep on a 2nd and 26.

Georgia had an excellent team this year. They just fell down when it mattered most.

Darn Alabama and Nick Saban. They are good.

Not a fan of either team, but right after halftime Georgia blocked a Bama punt deep in their territory, but was called offsides and penalized. The replay clearly showed illegal motion on two Bama players that might have drawn them off. A couple of incidents that should have drawn personal foul penalties against Bama were ignored. Also, Bama was routinely holding all night and I don't recall them getting any penalties.

When it comes to officiating, I guess Bama is to football, what Duke is to basketball.

Yeah, I wondered too.

People turned out for Doug Jones (in some areas) like they turned out for Obama?

I have a hard time believing that.

It was fixed. If Saban wasn’t Saban he would have started that kid after the offensive malaise with Clemson. Bama would have won going away with no drama.

That, and the end-zone interception by Georgia that was called incomplete wasn’t exactly the best officiating either.

Apparently you can bounce a pass off someone, catch it in mid-air, and still not have it count.

And yet, Georgia was only one good play from winning it. They could not seem to make that play.

Blocked punt was not offsides, for starters...

I didn't watch but checked on the game on the net....I figured that somehow TPTB would give Alabama the win...somehow, someway...

I don't trust the sports industry anymore....I'm sure the superbowl has already been set...
