(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either satire or opinion. Or both.)

You mean they don’t have sensors and alarms that scream like an air raid siren when a dive is initiated and a hatch isn’t properly closed?
To: C19fan
2.9 billion dollar sub and what - no monitors and alarms telling the captain a hatch is open as he prepares to dive?
To: C19fan
The last one in is suppose to close the door ,LOL
To: C19fan

Well, when the sirens went off, they called Tech Support and some guy in Mumbai named Steve told them it was OK to proceed.

"Happy you are calling, have you tried rebooting your submarine?"

...for the engineers. Appalling that a sub could dive with a hole in the boat.

Was the screen door broken? It's still not funny.
To: C19fan
Either bad design (there should be indicator lights in the control room showing red when hatches are not properly closed), or somebody in the control room was not paying attention. (PLUS the idiot who didn't close the hatch)

As I’ve written before, Chinese culture is a culture of wiggle room, of excuses, of second guessing.
I’ve wondered how this culture will play out when it comes to something like operating an aircraft carrier or a nuclear submarine.
This story might be seen as giving evidence of that cultural characteristic elsewhere in Asia.

You can buy all the submarines you want but you need experienced sailors.

“We will need to take control of your submarine for fixing it. Go to a browser and type in teamviewer.com. Failure to do this will result in the loss of your data and submarine.
