Whether Tony the Tiger is declaring Frosted Flakes “grrreat” or a manic bird is going “cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs,” food commercials remain mainstays of after-school TV even as childhood obesity has become a health crisis.

And BOTH characters were all over the TV screen back in the '60s, some evebn TOUTING the sugar content ... Quisp, for Qwazy Energy!

Kids played outside more, and ate at home more, and could play at their friends' houses and yards, no handhelds, less soda pop (though Kool-Aid was a big deal in the summer).

No fear of fats for kids.

Yep, back then We were told go play outside, be back by dark and don't go too far away.

And only God knows how we survived things like riding a bicycle without a helmet and padding or riding in the back window deck of the car on the trip to Grandma's house 4 States away at 80 mph.

Heck if You thought You were hurt bad enough to go find a Adult for a Band-aid You and a Friend better have fashioned up some kind of Tourniquet. Because otherwise You would get doused with Mercurochrome first. Maybe Bactine spray if you were lucky.
