One day there will be an uprising against the airlines.

Then there is the other side of the coin. Half of all people have below average intelligence and the airlines have to deal with them all.

I sat on some plane this past summer...actually had pulled up to the ramp and was ready to release passengers....then we waited, and waited, and waited. Must have been 30 minutes before they opened the door and started letting folks off the plane. No explanation.
Two months ago, I got off an international flight, and they had two border-entry guys at the end of the docking ramp, wanting every single passenger to present their passport there. We were backed up and it took probably an hour to unload the 300 passengers.

I ran to the terminal building to fly by my airline.
The man said I could ride the wing, and I said that was fine.
He said, "I'll confirm your reservation" and put the plane on hold.
He came back, said "sorry, but that wing space has just been sold."

In October, I flew on Ryan Air for the first and last time. Never fly Ryan Air.

I won’t say that I have never been tempted to do that.

If I can't drive there, I don't need to go there.

I don’t see it. Like Freepers that still watch the NFL all talk, same with people complaining about airlines and Airport security. A two week slow down boycott of air travel and the airlines would be begging for forgiveness and working on real solutions their margins are such that even such a short slow down would crimp them.
