More like modern 13 year olds are not even 13 years old. I actually had responsibilities when I was 13, and I could drive a truck at that age.

What I take from your reply is that you completely sidestepped the Disney attraction tie-in connection as motivation for the plot changes, and instead attempted to divert me down a rabbit hole, which I accept as tacit acceptance of my argument unless you wish to actively engage on the subject.

To the matter of cognitive abilities of 13 year olds, if you are suggesting that they are capable of understanding the dynamics of the Kirk-Spock-McCoy, Luke-Han-Leia, or Rey-Finn-Poe triangles, I disagree. Thirteen-year-olds are not experienced enough to grasp the subtleties.
