My two dachshunds are curled up under the wood stove as we speak. They don’t do cold well.
But my current rescue mutt has got some husky in him from the looks of his markings.
He grows a thick undercoat when the weather turns cool and then starts to shed it in the spring when it warms up. We comb tons of it out of his coat when it gets hot. Enough to stuff a pretty good size pillow with.
He loves the cold weather. He has his own winter coat he "wears".
