God bless him for the many years he entertained U.S. troops.
He was a great dancer, too!
Amen to that!
Thanks for the memories Bob....
Current entertainers are a pale shadow of Bob Hope. He commanded that stage with wit and talent.
He was an amazing man.

You’re right...We especially loved the TV shows of him and his group entertaining troops.
Saw him one time in Danang, with his fellow entertainers, and it was a welcome couple of hours away from the action.
Nobody since then has come even close to being what he was to the troops away from home.
I was backstage at a charity event he was doing (well high ticket prices) after my stagehands set dressing rooms for him and for Patty Page. I had met him just a little earlier.
He got up onstage (Patty sang first - I got her autograph right after she came down the stairs off the stage). Hope told a joke (several of course but this one stands out in my mind) - I have never been able to tell it successfully - he had the timing of a professional (obviously). That was many decades ago.
A friend I worked with had seen one of his shows in Vietnam and like you said, it was a welcome break and a great show.
When he and James Cagney danced, in the movie, "THE SEVEN LITTLE FOYS", the two of them were AMAZING and Cagney had been a chorus boy and dancer/actor, on Broadway, before he went into the movies!
LOL...should have read the thread before I posted; you beat me to it! Thanks for posting the link!
So you’re saying it’s not true he was involved in Hollywood child trafficking or pedophilia?
I saw a version of this last month and at the end they said he was out of touch because he once talked to Richard Nixon about winning the war and they said troops were booing him on stage. They said he used women to entertain the troops so they would stop booing, and this was uncomfortable for the women. Turned into a real hit piece.
Multi-talented!

Bob Hope Christmas With The Troops
I don’t remember where I was (sittin on an ammo dump in I-Corps, I think) I missed his Danang show in 71.
My dad knew him pretty well and really liked him. Genuinely funny guy.
Ann Margaret is also a real trooper.
