“Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., urged his fellow congressman to quadruple addiction prevention efforts”

Build the wall, you brain-dead coprophage.

BTW, how many of those deaths are connected with prescriptions, and how many with black-market drugs?

Anyone find it odd this crisis magically appears in the waning months of the Obama Admin? Not saying he caused it, but how the heck does something so suddenly become a national crisis?

The age-adjusted rate of drug overdose deaths in West Virginia was 52 per 100,000 in 2016,

So is this rate per 100,000/state population or 100,000 of a particular age group?

French news keep saying it is the pain caused by coal industry and pharma’s oxitocyn prescriptions. I say it is Obama letting Talebans and Hezbollah funnel the stuff to red states

They fudge the numbers. This NYS Dept of Health Web page explains it well.

https://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/chronic/ageadj.htm

As long as they are adjusting the numbers equally among states then they generally can be compared.

This is done with lots of stats.
