“iconic”
The most overused, trendy word in the last dozen years.
To: MikePipper
When they referred to Carrie Fisher as being iconic, I almost puked.

Without a doubt, using the word “absolutely”. I hear some use this word 5 or 6 times within a few minutes. Also using “you know” every other sentence.

I have a few:
- Gender--Confine this term to linguistics. The word should be sex.
- To decimate--It means to reduce by a tenth, but everyone uses it as a synonym for to destroy
- Apocalypse--it means a disclosure, not a calamity
- 44 BCE, 2017 CE--It's 44 BC, AD 2017. BCE and CE are Christophobic.

So mine is the word so, but only when it is used to start a sentence. Amen!

so
Yes - the most annoying use of a word in 2017
Who would have thought that the word "so" would need to begin each sentence?

Gender--Confine this term to linguistics. The word should be sex. I agree, but I'm afraid we're stuck with it. :(

I agree, but I'm afraid we're stuck with it. I once objected to the word "gender" in the bylaws of an organization to which I belong and proposed to change the word to "sex." However, I was informed that "gender" is required by law.
Chalk up another victory for the cultural Marxists.

The article is "fake news" based on a "fake poll" for the purpose of falsely claiming that what has become Trump's favorite phrase (and now the MSM's least favorite) is one of the most annoying to Americans.
For this purpose the poll was rigged by the question asked.
Those polled are not asked for what word or phrase they find most annoying. They are instead asked "Which of the following words or phrases...?" Thus they can only choose between 6 words/phrases Marist determined to include and Marist (not the people polled) decided to made "Fake news." one of them.(See header of table at link: Marist's Header & Table for the Actual Data of This Poll)
Not only has "Fake news" been included only because Marist decided to put it there, but it is also the only word/phrase included that is politically charged ("Whatever" "Fake news" "No offense, but" "Literally" "You know what I mean" and "unsure").
So while Marist gives anti-Trump liberals the opportunity to register their annoyance at "Fake news" (and Trump) - Marist will never include phrases like "Homophobia" "White privilege" or "Religion of Peace" in such a poll to give conservatives their opportunity to register their annoyance at those phrases. CAN A POLL BE MORE RIGGED & "FAKE NEWS?"
