For real Green Berets, there was one dead giveaway that
Brooklyn Army vet Papotia Reginald Reggie Wright was an imposter.
We took one look at that and knew he was messed up it was comical,
said a retired Green Beret, a member of the Guardians of the Green Beret,
to The Post on Friday.
His beret was black.

"I can see!"
Black berets matter!!
well, at least the fraudster DID actually serve in the military - i’ll give him a bit of credit for THAT ...
If you at least served, why not be proud of that?Their stating he was a “lowly driver” was a bit snarky. Lowly driver or bed pan cleaning orderly or potato peeler cook assistant, to me makes little difference. You served. Be proud of that. You did your part, no matter how seemingly small and insignificant. At least you weren’t shoveling sh*t in Louisiana while dodging a draft.
Starting back in the ‘70s all I had to ask a supposed Nam vet was ‘who were you with?’ and it’s flush out the imposters real fast.
They actually lampooned that a bit in "I'm Gonna Git You Sucka!" d;^)

Bad guys kill REMFs, too.

I'm sure you recall, Sergeant Friday had to have a talk with him and break the news to him that he wasn't The Masked Avenger, he was just a skinny kid trying to be someone.
He was also wearing the Master Military Freefall Parachutist Badge, which I had never heard of. It looks like it was created after my service. This guy doesn’t exactly look like a HALO jumper.
Too bad your experience was so negative. Most of the guys I served with have an opposite attitude. Maybe things were different in the Infantry.
Wright’s wife, Tammy Feliciano, also lied about being an ex-Army “major’’ while serving as an “executive officer’’ with him, the Guardians noted.
A Black Female Army Major...fraud? Interesting.
It was created a while back. When I was at FBNC my best friend was in an instructor with SWC in selection & assessment. As I recall there were guys just getting that badge so that would be circa 88-92, somewhere in there.
Govt employees are nearly always clowns - just visit any DMV
BUT, did you ever buy one of the Banh Mi sammiches from one of the street vendors in downtown Bien Hoa ? They were killers with the thai peppers that burned the ears. (:o)
Anyone who is a vet or now serving should be proud of their choice of duty. No matter what your MOS was or is.
I dont mean to say my experience was so negative. That is not exactly what I mean. I just didnt like being there. I dont think we were accomplishing much. I was not against stopping the commies. I just thought, if we are going to do it, then dont pussyfoot with it. We were pussyfooting around. I havent been back to Nam since then, though who knows? Maybe someday I will. Its only a short flight from where I am now.
While I’m totally against any stolen valor, as an old Jarhead I must confess that trying to decipher all the fruit salad, color coded berets, geegaws, gimcracks and other ornamentation of the sister services mostly makes me completely unwilling to call out fishy looking “Vets” for the weird stuff they are wearing.
Plus, I’m terrified that I’ll find out that they really DO issue a Rainbow Pride Ribbon with Trans Cluster.
I can spot Phony Soldier in seconds.
