Not into Christmas? How about Misty Mountains by Richard Armitage for The Hobbit?

"One Toy Soldier" is a very pro military song. Someone just downarrowed it and it amazes me that anyone could object to the people who are willing to put their lives on the line to defend us. Would appreciate anyone willing to uparrow it. My nephew is a marine and I'm so proud of him.

Maybe they got it confused with “One Tin Soldier”.

Callan, the assassin played by Edward Woodward, used to make little tin soldiers. And I remember a store along the Pacific Coast Highway with the most amazing set of model soldiers.

Bless you all. And our military. Most of my ancestors served. My grandfather served in the Spanish American War and the 1st World War. He volunteered in the 2nd and they wouldn’t take him because of his age. He was so mad.

Maybe that person objected to soldier being used to refer to marines and sailors.

Clearly I need a good song for JAG and NCIS. Suggestions?

For JAG, one of the best Christmas songs ... (already in a JAG episode). She sang the song while entertaining the troops.

Thanks. I like Enya, mainly for Orinoco Flow, and love JAG.
I’d forgotten how snappy their salutes were and didn’t see that flair in the real Navy. A nice concept well rendered.

I like it the way you have it now. I was just offering a possible explanation for the downvote.

Thank you so much, sparklite. That means a lot.

I gave my nephew a box set of all of JAG, which went over really well. Just watched that last scene again. SO frustrating. And clever.

“JAG” is one of my all-time favorite series, and Harmon Rabb was the kind of officer you’d like (and at times hate) to serve with.

But his good outweighed his bad.

Thanks, Kirkwood. That's much appreciated.

I admit I get paranoid when I see people downvote pieces like NCIS and JAG and the 9/11 newsreel videos. I just want to rah! rah! them and say the military is one of the best things this country has. It's people who put themselves in danger for those of us at home. Sort of like the word "mother." Bells should ring when the word is said. (And NOT like the bells in Young Frankenstein!)

Father, when he was teaching ROTC in the Cavalry of the University of Chicago, 1928:

My grandfather would have been green with envy!

How wonderful. We’re only safe here because they served. Infinite thanks to all of them. All home safe, I hope.

I searched the YouTube, but I need to go thru the JAG episodes we keep on our file server to find the Christmas ones. Any memory of what the episode was about that had the song in it? Wait! There was a period piece of a USO show. Was that it?

David Elliot, who played Rabb, is Canadian. He said he had no military background and didn’t know a sergeant from an admiral. He just did what was directed. Even today, when people ask him questions of a military nature, he can’t tell them much. LOL

I work with some marines and sailors who are now soldiers, so it is all good.

Never knew that! Fascinating.

My great grandfather was JAG. He'd been in the cavalry during the Civil War and his horse rolled onto him. Rather than quit, he moved into JAG.

He's the one seated to the right of Judge Holt during the Lincoln Assassination Trial. He got called to DC by Stanton because he'd just gotten the death penalty for the Southern Conspirators in Indianapolis. He ran the investigation, was a special judge advocate, and the Library of Congress records are in his handwriting. I got deeply into JAG research from that. I was totally captivated by the JAG show.
