Scott... never imagined his Apple Watch might save his life, but thats exactly what happened... weeks ago when he had a heart attack in... middle of the night....
Big fan of the Apple Watch right now, he told me. Its easy to understand why.
...Killian says he recently underwent a nuclear stress test and metabolic workout to rule out any health concerns.... After thousands of dollars of tests, he was cleared without issue. He had no reason to expect a heart attack....
...Then Killian, who wears his Apple Watch to bed three to four nights a week for sleep tracking, says his Apple Watch woke him up around 1 am with an alert from a third-party app saying his resting heart rate was elevated while sleeping.... Killian... says he generally didnt feel sick.
His Apple Watch charted his heart rate at around 121 beats per minute in the middle of the night while data previously captured showed his average resting heart rate at around 49 beats per minute. The data also showed that this was the first time his resting heart rate had reached this level since he began wearing Apple Watch, so he decided to go to the emergency room as a precaution. Ten thousand dollars in tests. None of this came out, Killian says. He told his surgeon that the Apple Watch is what prompted him to go to the ER, and his surgeons response was remarkable.
He said had I kept sleeping, I probably wouldnt have woken up. I would have died in my sleep....
...my grandfather died at 55 from a heart attack in the middle of the night 13 years before the Apple Watch existed. Now, this technology is accessible for a few hundred dollars and can actually save lives....

Does it have a battery life for that much wearing?
No it does not.
Ping!....................
My Apple Watch saved my life.
The wife always said I snored and she suspected I had sleep apnea. After I got my Watch I downloaded a sleep monitoring app to prove her wrong.
The app said I woke up many times during the night, something I had no recollection of.
So with this information in hand, I saw a sleep specialist, who set up a sleep study.
The results were surprising. I had an average of 93 apnea episodes an hour. Worse, they were a mix of obstructive and central apnea. Central Apnea is a neurological disorder when, basically, your brain forgets how to breath.
I was in imminent danger of dying every night and didn’t know it.
They have me on a CPAP machine now, assisted with oxygen, and I sleep like a baby, less than 5 episodes an hour on average.
Would have never done the sleep study had it not been for the Apple Watch.
My Watch can go three days without charging.
I put it on the charger for about 20 minutes every morning while I shower and get dressed. It is back to 100% with that little charge.
I have gone away for a long weekend, Friday through Sunday, forgot my charger, and it was still working when we got home Sunday night.
So is this why people are standing in line at Apple stores? If not once this gets out the lines will be longer.
I didn’t see it but does the watch wake you up when it senses something wrong? That would be great for bed wetters.
You need two. One to wear while the other one charges.
How long did it take you to get used to the machine? Are you using a mask? Did you see improvements quickly?
This needs to be free to everyone.
Apple needs to give it away free.
For the children....or something.
Not if you wear it during the day, It does charge quickly though so I guess you can charge it and then put it back on to go to sleep or get another one.
Similar story here. Should have gotten tested 10 years before I did. Cpap machine is a life saver. My dad took all the tests noted in this story and was cleared too. Died about 3 months later, in his sleep. Fat lot of good they did him.
About 3 weeks ago, I went to urgent care, and was diagnosed with bronchitis. They put me on steroids, antibiotics, and a couple decongestants. A couple days later, my resting heart rate went up to about 120, and my blood pressure was 219/144. I had taken the night time decongestant, and would have gone to sleep, if not for the annoying alarm on my new Apple Watch. Its my first one, and Id only been wearing it about a week. It took three days in the hospital to bring my vitals into the safe zone. If Id gone to sleep that night, I think it would have been for the last time.
I have a Gen 1 that pales in comparison.
Not as long as I thought I would. Just a couple of days to adjust the straps and pressure and I was good to go. Still a pain to have to put it on, but I seem to actually drift off faster with it on than I did without it.
Are you using a mask?
Yep. Covers nose and mouth. I have BAD apnea and need a lot of pressure.
Did you see improvements quickly?
Almost immediately. According to my Watch I now sleep soundly - no more mysterious "waking" activity. My heart rate is lower at night. I wake up more refreshed. I used to hit a "wall" at 3:00pm everyday, where I just really wanted to take a nap. No more. I still have energy at the end of the workday and if I have to work late, I still get home feeling awake.
What app do you use to monitor your sleep?
As in Pulp Fiction, could you shove the uncomfortable piece of metal up your ass for years and expect it to work.
Lol.
Exactly, for the children.
But nowadays it’s for social justice and to end white supremacy.
