The boycott may have had SOME to do with it (it sure as hell ain't helping ticket sales), but I don't believe that is entirely the case in this...case.
The product is CRAP. That's the biggest problem. This is my second year not bothering to watch a single game. I stopped watching before the kneeling b.s. started.
In the case of the Buffalo game, gotta believe the blizzard had something to do with the ticket prices as well.
Did you read the article? He mentioned five teams, four of which are still in the playoff hunt. Only the Colts are out of it.
“As much as I’d like to blame the ticket price drop on the boycott, the fact is, the playoff picture is just about complete. “
Baloney. Show me another year when you could get Cowboys tickets for 10 bucks, just because the playoffs were basically settled.
The Bills and Panthers are very much in the playoff picture, and the Cowboys and Packers have an outside chance. I think the backlash against the NFL is a bigger factor.
Remember the days when the games couldnt be broadcast in the home market unless the stadiums were sold out?
Didnt think so.
Last Monday's game was Bengals/Steelers in Cincy. The kneelers fan base extends through WVa and southern Ohio to the point that it's an easy 2-3 hr drive to Cincinnati. The Bengals were right at .500 and right in the middle of the wildcard chase, plus, it's a big rivalry. This was not a meaningless game by any stretch.
The attendance for the game was 56k in a stadium that holds over 65k. Any other year, that stadium would have been packed and people would have been bribing stadium employees to get in. I think the boycott is real.
