Danish researchers have found there are approximately 13 additional breast cancer cases for every 100,000 women who use hormonal contraception for one year.
Women who use hormonal birth control pills and other forms of contraceptives have a small but increased risk of developing breast cancer, a new study from Denmark has found the latest in a string of dangerous side-effects researchers have discovered about the risks of hormonal contraceptives.
The study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, followed 1.8 million Danish women for an average of more than 10 years. Of those women, researchers identified 11,517 cases of breast cancer. They then estimated that for every 7,690 women who use hormonal contraception for one year, one extra might develop breast cancer, or approximately 13 additional breast cancer cases for every 100,000 women. This risk increased with longer durations of use, but appears to go away within five years once birth control is discontinued.
The study, funded by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk Foundation, has its limitations: according to the researchers, it didnt account for factors such as breast-feeding, exercise, weight, obesity, and alcohol consumption, all of which research has found affect breast cancer in some way. While it also shows a relatively small percentage change, given the prevalence of breast cancer among women we cannot dismiss these results.

New England Journal of Medicine published just that 20 years ago. They were EXCORIATED. Had to do with abortions in one’s 20’s being more likely to get cancer in their 40’s. Made simple sense. Pregnancy is good for a woman’s health. Should all women bring one child into the world and not go through with that procedure? Conclusion: yes.
I think this has been known for a long time. But we’re not supposed to talk about it.
Abortion too. There is a price to be paid.
There’s a higher risk of dying in childbirth.
WHO WERE IN THE CONTROL GROUP?????
Where did they find an equal number of women who had NEVER been on chemical birth control?????
13/100,000 = 0.013%
Here’s a problem with the study. It doesn’t say if the study controlled for the presence of viral STDs. If women who take BC have a higher incidence of viral STDs, how do they rule out the STDs having something to do with the higher rate of breast cancer.
“...The study, funded by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk Foundation, has its limitations: according to the researchers, it didnt account for factors such as breast-feeding, exercise, weight, obesity, and alcohol consumption, all of which research has found affect breast cancer in some way...”
This is critical to understanding the limitation of this study’s conclusion.
Artificially flooding the body with hormones has a deleterious effect.
Yep, Mums the word, not politically correct
Not nice to fool with the politically correct narrative, but it is much worse to fool with mother nature. Also verboten to mention that women who have had abortions have a higher incidence of breast carcinoma and that women who use alcohol or intoxicating drugs early in pregnancy are more likely to have autistic or brain damaged children.
“Had to do with abortions in ones 20s being more likely to get cancer in their 40s.”
I agree with that.
I do psychological testing and have found that even the pro-choice activists carry guilt from their often multiple abortions. Guilt internalized suppresses the immune system and pre-disposes a person to cancer..
Ever notice that mean nasty people usually don’t get cancer. Guilt ridden people do. Often the guilt is merely perceived, or should I say mis-perceived and not based upon reality.
Interesting thing is that the birth control hormones in urine are not removed from the water in sewage treatment and are turning the male bass in the Susquehanna River to have eggs and female attributes...
No wonder there are so many gay men... it’s the water they drink! LOL
Excellent analysis. We have been consuming billions of pharma chemicals for several decades - and recycling them in the water everyone drinks. There is bound to be a correlation.
My concern has always been the pills (given to women after delivery) to dry up the breast milk....back in the days when breast feeding was replaced with bottles of formula.
Breast feeding has regained popularity. Natural and doesn’t require all that bottle sterilization.
Hormones...out of whack
This has been known for decades.
Statistical noise. To bad Statistics are not a required course in both high school and college.
