CHICAGO (WLS) -- In one day, a 4-year-old Chicago boy read 100 books, including his favorites about Ninja turtles and dogs.
As Caleb Green's reading marathon got started on Saturday, his parents decided to stream it on Facebook Live. He got a couple thousand views from people as far away as Florida.
And every time he finished 10 books, he did a little dance.
"I like to read and I want to read some more like my sister," Caleb said.
When Caleb first told his parents about his goal, they scoured their bookshelves. When they came up short, some friends dropped by with more books.
"I was like, 100, son? That's a lot of books. So at first, I had the gut reaction to talk him down a little bit but he was like, 'No, I want to read 100,'" his father Sylus Green said.
Dad said he's inspired.
"I learned to just dream bigger and I am going to set unrealistic goals for myself this coming year and I'm going to be inspired by Caleb to not quit on him and just push through it," he said.
As for Caleb, he has big plans for the future.
"I want to be a basketball player. When I am 22 I want to be an astronaut and when I'm 23 I want to be a Ninja turtle," he said.

I really should have gone to more career fairs, I had no idea that was an option!

Yeah, all he’s training for is to be one of those women who devour Harlequin romances.
Seems fake.
The first book he finished was “War and Peace.” Then he tackled the tough stuff.
Good for him! If he keeps up with reading, his schooling will benefit. Guess I am the Debbie “upper” of the thread but I’d rather see a lil’ one read than spend hours on t.v. :)
Anyone test him on retention and comprehension?
There are a lot worse things than reading. Good for him hope he continues to make it a priority
Possibly but my husband and I were both reading well by age 3 and my 2.25 year old can sight read dick and Jane and Dr Seuss books.
Having a 4 year old read 100 books in one day is a publicity stunt.

Wonderful! Impressive! I am not only impressed with Caleb, but also with his parents who understand the importance of having lots of books in the home. Talk to any school teacher and they will confirm that having a great stash of books in the home is not typical these days. That the boy came up with a goal and his parents took the time to help him fulfill that goal is commendable and inspiring. Needless to say, that Caleb reads so well at age four is also evidence of some great parents. Teachers can teach, but kids need practice. Parents do that job the best.
I am amazed at the negativity as well. Actually, as a freeper, I am embarrassed by so called conservatives who can not rejoice with the accomplishment of this little boy. Being a good reader is essential to getting a good education. God bless Caleb and his parents.
He is a very lucky kid. How many 4 year olds in Chicago have a dad at home?
It’s only exceptional in this day and age.
I did that as a kid.
Winters were long in Nebraska. I had two sisters and we had one TV.
Good times.
And mommy is pointing at the words for him.
Am sure plenty of kids have him beat.
