My youngest daughter, no wimp, was at drama club practice one night at the high school and some kid kept making passes at her. She warned him to leave her alone but he persisted.
She dealt with it, causing his voice to rise several octaves for a while. His sister congratulated her.
He NEVER bothered her again.
Society was more polite when people took public shaming matters into their own hands and the police looked the other way (or applauded).
